Amelia's Tale (thus far)...
Amelia spent a large proportion of her childhood travelling the world, and complaining about it much of the way: there was the eyebrow-raising tantrum in Montreux market at age 3; the defiant disrobing in Bath (note: not in the bath), aged 4; falling asleep in a plate of Bangkok noodles, aged 8; and the disgusted indignation that only a 15-year-old can muster at "yet another boring glacier" in Alaska.
But somewhere along the way, she inadvertantly swallowed the travel bug...
Whilst travelling took some time to grow on her, writing has always appealed. In 2001 Amelia enrolled in the Bachelor of Media Arts (Communication) and the National Diploma in Journalism at Hamilton's Waikato Institute of Technology, receiving both the Doris Henry/ESU Award for excellence in writing (2002) and the Waikato Times Award for excellence in journalism (2003) during the course of her qualifications.
Amelia's career has so far seen her interviewing Kiwi musicians as a university publications editor, discussing milk solids with North Island farmers as a rural journalist and learning everything there is to know about exterior cladding as a writer for Homestyle Magazine.
In 2006 Amelia landed squarely on her feet when she took on the role of Content Editor at www.fourcorners.co.nz, where she successfully combines her passions for travel and writing. She has since featured as a travel blogger at Yahoo!Xtra Travel and for a time, regularly contributed travel stories to the 3 News lifestyle website. Amelia's work has also been included in a national sample exam paper for NCEA English Level 1 and in 2011, Amelia was the primary contributer for the second edition of the AA Travel online magazine.
